Building on what students are learning in TAME Clubs, this year’s challenge focuses on water transport
Since the start of the school year, TAME Clubs across Texas have been diving deep into learning about water, water purification, and the essential role that engineers play in bringing the world clean water.
As TAME’s competition season kicks off, students will shift to focus on how to transport water to the places where it’s needed most.
Beginning on February 3 and continuing through early April, 14 TAME Competitions will take place across the state (see dates below).
If you have attended past TAME Competitions, this year’s events may feel a bit different. We’ve added two new elements to the scoring rubric. In addition to being scored on the prototype challenge, teams will receive a score for documentation and design proposal.
Also new in 2023, special Judges Awards will be given to students and teams that exemplify TAME’s 5 Cs of Engineering. These are words that describe an engineering mindset and characteristics of TAME students:
- Curious – reflecting on how things work and interconnect
- Creative – thinking about new ways to solve problems
- Collaborative – knowing that two heads – or three or four heads – are better than one
- Committed – showing persistence because engineering design requires many iterations
- Contributive – offering ideas and energy to benefit the project and the group
