The Texas Alliance for Minorities in Engineering (TAME) is proud to announce the winners of our 2023 TAME Scholarships.
Every year, TAME awards scholarships to TAME Club Members who are high school seniors with plans to attend an accredited college or university to study engineering or another STEM subject. TAME Scholarship winners exemplify the 5Cs of the TAME Engineering Mindset: Curiosity, Creativity, Collaboration, Commitment, and Contribution. We’re so proud of all these scholars have accomplished and wish them well as they start the next chapter of their education!
Looking Beyond the GPA, SAT/ACT to Promote Equity in Engineering
Unlike traditional academic scholarships, TAME Scholarship awards are not based on a student’s GPA or scores on the college entrance SAT and ACT exams. Rather, TAME scholarships are awarded based on factors including financial need, anticipated college major, first in the family to attend college, years of TAME involvement, and membership in a diverse community that lacks proportional representation in engineering education and careers.
STEM Scholarships Made Possible with Your Support
It is because of the tremendous support of TAME’s community that we can award scholarships each year. TAME would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the sponsors of the 2023 TAME Scholarships. These sponsors are actively supporting TAME students to pursue their educational and career goals: ConocoPhillips, EOS, University of Houston, The University of Texas at Austin, ExxonMobil and Steve & Mary DeLeon.
Here’s what the support means to one TAME Scholar:
“When I apply to college, I don’t just see a means of getting an education. I see a resource that will help facilitate a future where I will not have to struggle like my parents have. Most of all, I see a future where I can use my success to create better opportunities for people in low-income communities like my own.”
