This school year, TAME Clubs across Texas are learning about the world’s most pressing challenges, global development and sustainability goals, and how engineers play a key role in advancing solutions for a healthier, safer and more equitable world.
Each year TAME provides an engineering curriculum and materials to implement hands-on engineering activities. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals – or SDGs – are at the core of the 2023-24 TAME curriculum, and Goal 7, Affordable and Clean Energy, will be the theme for this year’s TAME Regional Competitions.
The 17 SDGs, which TAME Engineers are learning about, represent a global call to action and the most important issues to solve to make the world a better place. Learn more about the SDGs here.

Join us in wishing luck to the nearly 3,000 middle and high school students from across Texas, from more than 100 TAME Clubs, who are gearing up to compete in the 2024 Regional Competitions! Here’s a snapshot of TAME’s program activity so far this academic year:
- 2,294 students are participating in TAME Clubs across Texas
- 108 active TAME Clubs in 16 state regions
- 80% of TAME Engineers are in our focus population***
- 48% are in high school; 52% are in middle school
***TAME is focused on supporting students from groups that continue to be severely underrepresented in engineering education and careers. This includes girls and students from Black, Native American, and Hispanic communities.
TAME would also like to extend our sincere thanks to this year’s TAME Engineering Competition supporters, including Northrum Grumman, Xcel Energy and Lockheed Martin.
If you competed last year, this year’s event will be similar in that it will include both a prototype challenge and a documentation and design proposal. Teams will receive a score for both elements of the project. Also similar to last year, Judges Awards will be given to students and teams that exemplify TAME’s 5 Cs of Engineering or the mindset of TAME Engineers:
- Curious – reflecting on how things work and interconnect
- Creative – thinking about new ways to solve problems
- Collaborative – knowing that two heads – or three or four heads – are better than one
- Committed – showing persistence because engineering design requires many iterations
- Contributive – offering ideas and energy to benefit the project and the group
As the competitions take place, TAME will post the results on our blog – so stay tuned!
