Sparking students’ interest in engineeringFor a Better World

Inspiring the next generation of
diverse Texas engineers

Launching engineering careersSince 1976

"TAME opened up a whole new world to me."
- ORLANDO CRUZ, ENGINEERING MAJOR, UT AUSTIN
Two middle-school African American girls grin at each other while using the Energy Stick exhibit. On one side they press their palms together, and with their other hands they hold either end of a plastic cylinder with lights inside. The contact between their hands creates a circuit and the Energy stick lights up and makes a noise.

Now I know what I want to be!

TAME Engineer

TAME programs connect Texas students to opportunities in Engineering. When students engage in a TAME Club or participate in a Regional Competition, it doesn’t matter if they’re from a small border town or a city center: they all have access to the same high-quality, engineering education to spark their curiosity.

The world greatly needs the solutions and innovations that a more representative group of engineers would offer, and that’s why TAME is focused on supporting the potential of girls and students from Black, Hispanic, and Native American communities to pursue their engineering dreams.

TAME combines research-based engineering learning opportunities with intentional efforts to build a strong sense of belonging and community among TAME students in the engineering classroom.

TAME recognizes that kids come from very different places, and our programs are designed to meet them where they are.

TAME creates equitable experiences for students from underrepresented groups to explore futures in engineering by fostering their sense of belonging and equipping them with knowledge, skills, and intergenerational support through statewide programming at no cost to students.
