TAME's Spring 2021 Game Plan
Watch the above video from 1/6/21 to learn more about TAME’s game plan for the 2021 spring semester. This video covers virtual STEM Competitions, contests, a Spring Break STEM Camp, Scholarships, Toolkits, Visits & Videos with STEM Role Models, the TAME Ecosystem Slack Channel, and Office Hours.
STEM COMPETITION GAME PLAN
– 14 active Chapters across Texas
– all-new virtual Engineering Design Challenge
– virtual State STEM Competition on April 24th
EVENT FORMAT: TAME is taking our STEM Competition Season all-virtual to bring STEM to you! We will be using a special platform to host the events. Students and Club Sponsors will receive an email invitation to create an account; you must have an account to participate. This year, the Divisional STEM Competitions will not contain any testing. There will be a welcome ceremony, one or two presentations depending on the chapter, and an awards ceremony. Students will be in zoom-style video chat rooms with their teams for the challenge. The Engineering Design Challenge is *100% virtual* and does not require any supplies.
CLUB SPONSORS: Student Rosters were sent out to the Club Sponsors in December. All you need to do is confirm which of your students on the list plan to attend, and make sure you and your students have a correct email address. DEADLINE: You need to do this by January 8 to participate in the event. If there are students missing from your list, you haven’t received a list, or you can’t confirm their students before January 8, let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org.
WHAT TO TELL STUDENTS: If you are a 6th-12th grade student in a qualifying TAME Club, and you registered before November 12, you are eligible to participate in the virtual Divisional STEM Competition! Just make sure that your TAME Club Sponsor has marked you as attending and has a correct email address for you. When you get an invitation to the event, create an account and sign in. Then, just log into your account on the day of the Competition to participate!
COMPETITION SCHEDULE: Chapters will be participating in one of seven consolidated Divisional STEM Competitions. See who you’ll be competing with on the Schedules & Results page.
INVITATIONS TO STATE: The top two Engineering Design Challenge Teams from each Competition will autoqualify for State, and other students who do well will be invited to attend.
Student Registration Deadline
To be eligible to compete in the virtual 2020 Divisional STEM Competitions for grades 6-12, students must register online with their parent/guardian at tame.org/student2020 by 5 p.m., Thursday, October 29, 2020.
For safety, printable PDF forms will not be available this year. However, we’re proud to now offer website translations in Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, Tagalog, Hindi, Urdu, Korean, and Arabic. (Look for the red button at the bottom right part of the page.)
If you or your students have issues with the online form, please contact TAME for help troubleshooting.
TAME Family, TAME Ecosystem
TAME is resourceful and resilient because of the many people who make up the TAME family. Because we can’t come together at in-person events to share ideas and support each other this year, we’ve created a space where we can come together virtually. The TAMEecosystem Slack channel will help Club Sponsors & Chapter leadership to collaborate, troubleshoot, and share ideas across Texas.
Follow these steps to participate. As we get closer to the competitions, the TAME slack channels will be a great way to coordinate your students’ needs and participation. We are seeking funding to scale up the ecosystem with your guidance, as well.
Together, we are stronger. Together, we are TAME. Join the conversation today.
