Elimini, a Houston-based company dedicated to generating 24/7 renewable power while permanently removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, is joining the Texas Alliance for Minorities in Engineering (TAME) as the official sponsor of the 2025 TAME State Competition—our first State Competition since 2019!
For nearly 50 years, TAME has been opening doors for Texas students to explore futures in engineering and prepare for success in STEM careers. This exciting event will bring together top performing students from the TAME Regional Competitions held across Texas. Students will meet in Houston for a one-day competition where they’ll work in teams to tackle a hands-on engineering design challenge. During the event, Elimini engineers and team members will serve as volunteer judges and advisors to the student teams.
Elimini’s fascinating work in bioenergy with carbon capture and storage is shaping the future of sustainable energy, helping to meet the growing demand for renewable power while addressing carbon emissions. Elimini builds on Texas’ legacy of energy leadership, leveraging natural resources and technological advances to sustainably power businesses and communities.
“At TAME, we believe that engineering is the key to solving complex global challenges—whether that means designing more resilient cities, scaling sustainable energy solutions, or improving everyday technology,” said Kiyomi Beach, Interim Executive Director of TAME. “Our partnership with Elimini will help inspire our students and empower them to be the next generation of problem-solvers and innovators.”
The return of the TAME State Competition is a meaningful milestone for the more than 2,500 TAME Engineers, middle and high school students who participate in TAME’s extracurricular engineering education programs each year. For the 250 students that will earn the right to participate, the State Competition is so much more than just an event – it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience that broadens students’ horizons and, for so many TAME alumni, serves as a launchpad for careers in engineering.
“Elimini’s purpose – to remove carbon for good – is only achievable because of technologies that resulted from innovative engineering,” said Lauren George, US Communities Manager at Elimini. “TAME has a five-decade legacy of helping students reach their full potential through engineering, and we’re honored to join with them to inspire the next generation of engineers in Texas through the return of the TAME State Competition.”
“Bringing the State Competition – among the most beloved of TAME traditions – back after a six-year hiatus is an exciting and emotional milestone,” said Beach. “TAME is deeply grateful to Elimini for their support and investment in Texas students. Partnerships like this ensure that TAME can continue to offer extracurricular engineering education, engineering competitions, and STEM scholarships at no cost to students across every corner of Texas.”
We can’t wait to see Texas’ brightest young engineers in action!
