Ready, set – register your TAME Club!
The 34th annual State STEM Competition, presented by ConocoPhillips, is scheduled for April 27th, 2019 in the greater Houston area.
To participate, please register your TAME Club (tame.org/club2018) and students (tame.org/student2018) by 11:59 pm on November 7th. Clubs and students must register every year to participate in the Divisional & State STEM Competitions.
Fourteen Divisional STEM Competitions will be held around the state in January and February of 2019, and high-achieving participants from each of these qualifying events will be invited to attend the State Competition in April 2019.
Please note that the UIL State Math Science competition is also scheduled on April 27th 2019. This presents students with a choice if they are selected to attend both state competitions. We encourage students to explore as many opportunities as possible, and make the choice that is right for them.
Speaking of opportunities, TAME is pleased to once again offer this year’s STEM Competition at an overnight camp facility. The weekend includes not only tough and exciting events where students demonstrate math and science skills and think like an engineer, but also provides students with an opportunity to experience campground activity like a rock climbing wall, a campfire, and – hold your hair! – a double zipline.
The only way to participate is to complete your Club and Student Registration no later than November 7th. Club Registration (tame.org/club2018) and Student Registration (tame.org/student2018) are both online. You can also download a printable PDF in English (tame.org/student2018PDF) and in Spanish (tame.org/student2018PDFSpanish). Once students begin signing up, you can log in to see a roster of students at tame.org/roster.
“If you’re a STEM person, everything you love is here. You get to take tests and meet people who have the same interests as you. You get to see what you’re going to be like. When we meet engineers, it gives us ideas of what we want to do and which way we’re going to go.” – Isabella S., 8th grade
Divisional and State Competitions, offered completely free of charge to all participants, celebrate TAME students’ achievement in STEM. The Competitions bring together thousands of Texas students in grades 6-12 for individual testing in math and science and a collaborative Engineering Design Challenge, which invites students become engineers for an afternoon. The events are a great opportunity for students to meet like-minded peers and mentors from across Texas.
For the 300 students who advance to the State STEM Competition on April 27th, TAME’s corporate partners cover all costs, including transportation to the Houston area, food and lodging, and great giveaways and prizes.
