For immediate release, an update for the STEM Competition season:
Dear TAME Family,
Thank you for helping us navigate the latest surge of COVID-19 infections. With your help, leadership, and flexibility, we were able to postpone the affected TAME STEM Divisional Competitions and give our community more time and capacity to absorb the impact.
We are excited to see that the risk levels are starting to decrease across Texas and are hopeful that the counties where Competitions are held will reach a risk level that will allow us to gather safely. We want to share TAME’s COVID-19 Protocols for the 2022 STEM Competition Season with you, so you know what to expect.
Information Source
TAME uses CovidActNow.org to monitor the risk levels. They use a 5–level scale from Low Risk (green), Medium Risk (yellow), High Risk (orange), Very High Risk (red), and Extremely High Risk (dark red).
We have added a CovidActNow.org link to our Competition Schedule for the county of all our STEM Competitions so you can monitor the levels too.
In-Person or Postponing
TAME will hold an in-person STEM Divisional Competition if the hosting county is at a High Risk (orange) level or below. The State Office will make the decision 14 to 7 days before the scheduled date in collaboration with the TAME Chapter Leader and Chapter STEM Competition Coordinator.
Masks
Masks will be STRONGLY encouraged at all the in-person STEM Competitions. TAME will provide masks for all. Please help us uphold this prevention measure. We will always follow local COVID-19 guidelines, so if the county, school district, or city requires masks, the TAME Competition will do so too.
Vaccinations
We encourage everyone to get vaccinated and boosted to protect yourself and your community. TAME will not require vaccinations for the 2022 STEM Competition Season.
COVID-19 Symptoms & Testing
We ask that anyone with any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 in the days leading up to their STEM Competition should refrain from attending the event.
As always, please reach out to us with any questions and concerns at programs@tame.org or 512-471-6100. We hope that knowing TAME’s COVID-19 protocol helps you know what to expect from our first in-person event in two years. We continue to face new situations and know that we can lean on each other to forge ahead. Thank you to every one of you!
Sincerely,
TAME State Office
