For immediate release, a letter from the Board of Directors about the STEM Competition program:
Dear TAME Family,
The Texas Alliance for Minorities in Engineering (TAME) has closely monitored the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic and its potential impact on TAME students, TAME Club Sponsors, volunteers, partners, and their families. The safety of our students is our top priority.
After careful review and assessment of our event, the TAME Board has cancelled the 2020 State STEM Competition. Scheduled for April 25th in the Houston area, the annual event brings together 300 students and 100 adults who travel more than 8,400 miles across Texas to collaborate and celebrate achievement in STEM, and to connect with STEM professionals and other volunteers.
We are grateful for the ongoing support of the 2020 Statewide Presenting Sponsor, ConocoPhillips, which remains committed to encouraging students to pursue STEM activities.
This is the first time in the event’s 35-year history that the event has been cancelled, and TAME understands the loss of opportunities for connection, networking, and mentorship for everyone involved.
TAME will not be able to reschedule the 2020 State STEM Competition. Staff members from the TAME State Office will be in touch with invitees, their parents/guardians, TAME Club Sponsors, and local Chapter Leadership as soon as possible.
Thank you for your understanding and support. We are committed to the safety of our students and everyone who is part of TAME. We will continue to do our best to inspire and prepare the future STEM professionals of Texas.
Sincerely,
The TAME Board
