2013 TAME Scholarship Application Guidelines

TAME high school seniors who have been accepted into an accredited university or community college for the Fall 2013 session are invited to apply to the TAME 2013 Scholarship Program. Applicants must be pursuing higher education in a science, technology, engineering or mathematics related field.

This application can be used to apply for both the TAME-Encana Scholarship ($2,500/recipient, 9 available) and the TAME-TAMU Scholarship (minimum $500/recipient, 3 available for students enrolled in Texas A&M University).

How to Apply

To apply, students may submit an on-line application, email the completed offline Microsoft Word application or print and mail a paper copy to their TAME Chapter Chair by Wednesday, May 1, 2013. Contact information for each TAME Chapter is provided at the end of this document and is also available on-line.


TAME Chapter chairs select the top two applications for their Chapter and submit them to the State Scholarship Committee for final award consideration.

  • Paper application: Download the paper application here. The application and all additional required materials must be submitted via e-mail or snail mail to your TAME Chapter Chair by Wednesday, May 1, 2013.
  • Electronic Application: Click here to access the online application. The application must be submitted online by Wednesday May 1, 2013.  All additional required materials must also be submitted via e-mail or mail to your TAME Chapter Chair by Wednesday May 1, 2013.

Recipients will be informed and the TAME website updated with the
list of TAME Scholars on Friday, May 17th, 2013.



Scholarship Guidelines


Students may apply to both scholarships, if applicable. The Encana scholarships are available to students enrolled at any accredited university while the TAMU scholarship is reserved for students enrolled in Texas A&M University.

To be considered for either scholarship, all applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Student must be a current high school senior graduating in Spring 2013.
  • Student must have participated in at least one TAME activity when in high school.
  • Student must be accepted as a full-time student at an accredited university for the Fall 2013 semester.
  • Student must major in a science, technology, engineering or mathematics related discipline.

Additional information:

  • All scholarship award payments will be forwarded to the financial aid office at the university.  No funds will be provided directly to the student.  Funds may be used to help pay for tuition, room and board, books, and/or fees during the student’s freshman year.
  • Awards are based on years of TAME involvement, merit, academic potential, achievement, letter of recommendation, financial need, and a personal essay. 
  • Applicants must meet all minimum enrollment qualifications required by the university.
