STATEWIDE MATH AND SCIENCE COMPETITION

Middle and high school students compete within local partners, some at a regional level as well, by taking tests in several areas of mathematics and science. Winners participate in the statewide competition. Coaching sessions are used locally to improve students' test-taking skills as well as math/science competence. Statewide participants receive a TAME T-Shirt and are eligible for a variety of awards. Establishing success patterns for minority and female students in math and science is a high priority of the program, and the phrase that "EVERY statewide participant is a winner" is repeated often. The 2010 Math & Science Competition will be held on April 9th-10th at the University of Houston.
