Why is TAME switching to tests by grade level? Where are the practice tests that were listed by subject? As we announced earlier this year, TAME's Divisional and State STEM Competitions are evolving to better meet the needs of our participants. Permian Basin Area Foundation Awards $12,500 for STEM Learning

The Texas Alliance for Minorities in Engineering (TAME) is proud to announce that the Permian Basin Area Foundation has generously awarded $12,500 to empower students in the Permian Basin to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math.

The grant will support the TAME Trailblazers, bringing an innovative, mobile STEM engagement program to students at five locations in the Permian Basin area of West Texas. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of students, and for helping us build a workforce that looks like Texas.

TAME Scholarships Due Monday 6/6 - Don't Miss Out!

TAME Scholarship applications due Monday, June 6th
All TAME club members heading off to college in a STEM field can win scholarships set aside just for them. Applications are due in two weeks, so urge your students to apply.

Students submit one application to be considered for all applicable scholarships. The TAME Scholarship selection committee will review all applications and make final recommendations on the following awards:
  • ConocoPhillips ($2,000/award)
  • Pratt & Whitney ($2,000/award, Wichita Falls students only)
  • The University of Texas at Austin ($1,500, engineering majors only)
  • Texas A&M University ($500/award, engineering majors only)
  • Texas Tech University ($2,000/award, engineering majors only)
Students will also be considered for TAME scholarships offered by Prairie View A&M University and the University of Houston.

The donation will support a variety of programs, such as STEM Competitions, scholarships, and TAME Trailblazers. We are grateful to ConocoPhillips for decades of partnership and continued support that helps us build a STEM workforce that looks like Texas.

Raytheon Funds Truck for Trailblazer Program

Raytheon delivers hands on science to students across Texas by helping purchase a truck for TAME's innovative Trailblazer program.

Texas is big: 269,000 square miles, from the plains of the Panhandle to the shores of the Gulf and down to the Rio Grande in the south. Thanks to funding from Raytheon, the TAME Trailblazer rolling science-on-wheels units can offer consistent STEM programs to students anywhere in Texas.

Welcome to TAME Engineering Adventures! Every month we strive to bring you two engineering activities (this month we will provide one warm-up activity and one practice competition activity) that will help you challenge your students with hands-on learning. 

This January's Engineering Adventure is to design and build a Mars Rover! This was the 2013 State Engineering Design Challenge, and we’ve adapted it here for the classroom. It's a great way to get your TAME Club members to start thinking like engineers in preparation for our STEM Competitions.
