 2nd Place Jessica Kaskie Dunbar Middle School Lubbock Engineers Make the World a Better Place Engineers have improved our society in many ways from transportation to mush smaller things such as packaging food. Without engineers, our world would be much more complex. Minute things that have directed our lives, such as the internet and cell phones, are all designed by engineers. Imagine what your world would be like without those devices. Complicated, right? Well, that’s basically what engineers do. They make our lives less complex, safer, and easier. Engineers have made the world what it is today, from aircraft, to glasses, to buildings. All different sorts of engineers such as the ones who design faster planes, quicker internet, even calculators, have modified our society. Imagine your life without anything designed or produced by engineers. You wouldn’t even have the clothes on your back! It took loads of people to design the shape and make the materials. What about the house you live in? Mechanical and structural engineers have built that too. Do you think you could manage a business without the tools and technology we have present day? Probably not. Engineers have made the world what it is today. The world is much better because of the actions of engineers. We are able to places faster, build things bigger and go where we never thought possible! Think of what the future has in store! You know that we have gone into outer space, but did you know that we haven’t even explored parts of our own world? Many places such as the inside of the Earth and deep ocean floors haven’t even been seen by human eyes. Hopefully, in the future we will have enough technology designed by engineers to do these things. Without engineers, the world wouldn’t be what it is today. Thanks to them, we know the future will bring even more surprises. All different sorts of engineers, such as mechanical, civil, chemical, electrical, and structural have designed, and will continue to make this world a better place.
