MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
TO: TAME Board Members FROM: Shari Getz, Executive Director DATE: December, 2006 Dear TAME friends and supporters, This year marked a very special anniversary for TAME – 30 years building a better prepared and more diverse science and engineering workforce through our work with K-12 students across the state! In that time, thousands of volunteers have worked countless hours helping hundreds of thousands of young people whose lives have been positively impacted as a result of their experiences with TAME. We are proud of our accomplishments and we thank all of our volunteers and sponsors for their ongoing support of our efforts. In October, we celebrated this milestone with a 30-Year Anniversary Gala. The memorable event was attended by board members, statewide volunteers, alliance representatives and funding partners who make it all possible. We even had a few folks present who have been there to support TAME since it was founded in 1976! Click here to view photos from the weekend conference and Anniversary Gala. Throughout the year, our statewide alliances provide a wide variety of opportunities to students in their communities. In addition, several programs are coordinated from the central office in Austin, inviting participants from all of our alliances. Our upcoming statewide programs include the Statewide Math and Science Contest, Elementary School Poster Contest, Middle School Essay/Poster Contest, High School T-Shirt Design Contest, a scholarship program and many more opportunities to experience our popular Trailblazer. Our Trailblazer (a 40-foot mobile science and engineering trailer) travels across the state raising enthusiasm for science and engineering by providing hands-on exhibits.
