Board Member Guidelines

 

Expectations and requirements of TAME board membership

 

In accordance with the organizational governing documents (Bylaws, Articles of Incorporation, and Policies), board members serve TAME as representatives of:

·        Business Entity

·        An educational institution

·        A Local Alliance

·        An individual member with no other affiliation

 

All board members will sign a commitment form upon appointment

 

All board members will perform a self-assessment annually based on the board member guidelines to be reviewed with their assigned Board Partner/Mentor

 

All board members are expected to support the organization Financially and share their Time and Talents.

 

I.                   Financial Contributions of individual board members

Each board member must personally support the mission of TAME by contributing financially *at a minimum level of $1,000 per year.

 

* In-kind contributions can be utilized for the purpose of meeting the required personal contribution.  In-kind contributions can include volunteer time, required travel, necessary supplies, materials, and/or additional volunteers.  All in-kind contributions shall be tracked using TAME’s “Board Member In-Kind Tracking Form”.

 

II.                Time

·        Participate in and/or assist with alliance events as board member to help promote image (at least one per year)

·        Participate in and/or assist with statewide programs (at least one per year)

·        Annually serve on at least one standing committee or ad-hoc committee

·        Participate in both the annual meetings: Fall Conference and the Spring Board Retreat (proxy can be designated for one event if need be)

·        Participate in Board Partner/Mentor program

 

III.             Talents

·        Use your affiliations with your employer and/or other organizations with which you serve to provide networking opportunities

·        Maintain a positive public image of TAME

·        Promote the organization’s work and values to the community, represent the organization and act as a spokesperson

·        All new board members will be assigned a current board member who will be available to them, as needed, to familiarize them with any of TAME’s policies and procedures or assist them with their board duties

·        If a board member is affiliated with a company or organization that can contribute to TAME, the board member should solicit funds to support the TAME vision and mission
