Membership with TAME is a two-part process. It begins with annual Club Registration. Once the Adult Sponsor registers the TAME Club for their school or organization, then the students they recruit need to complete their Student Registration. Any STEM-related group in Texas with 8 or more students in grades K-12 can register a TAME Club.
After a student registers online, the system will email the Adult Sponsor. Keep in mind that students will not be able to register until the Adult Sponsor of the TAME Club completes the Club Registration.
When registering your Club, please use the full name of your school or organization. Avoid shortcuts and acronyms. What you enter here will show up in the system when your students go to register online. You want to make it easy on them when they’re searching for their club name in the pull-down menu.
TAME Club and Student Registrations will remain open during the full 2017-18 School Year.
DEADLINE: If you are in grades 6-12 and want to participate in the Divisional or State STEM Competitions, the deadline to register Clubs and Students is November 15th.
CRITERIA TO COMPETE: Remember, you must recruit at least 8 registered students for your club to receive an invitation to compete. Your TAME Club must represent a rural area or Title 1 school (this covers most TAME Clubs). If you are not a Title I campus AND you are in Austin, DFW, Houston, San Antonio, or the suburbs around these large urban centers, we have some additional criteria.
We welcome all students, but we ask that 50% of the students recruited in these clubs:
TAME Clubs have traditionally been open to all students, and we want to continue to encourage participation from all interested students. However, we also believe that the success of our least advantaged students benefits all of us. Accordingly, we want to make sure that TAME Clubs are truly diverse, and that our resources are directed first at the students with the least access to educational opportunities. Thank you for your support.
In a TAME Club, the Adult Sponsor is the supervising liaison with the organization that provides the meeting location and organizes and facilitates activities during TAME club meetings and events. Adult Volunteers may help with this, and are optional. Student Leaders are also optional, but are a great way to motivate students, as they can help plan and lead activities as long as the Adult Sponsor is present.
