2012 Capital Area Math & Science Competition
The 2012 Capital Area Math & Science Competition will take place on Saturday February 25, 2012 at National Instruments.
At the annual Capital Area Math & Science Competition, middle and high school students from the Greater Austin Area compete in individual math and science tests and participate in an interactive team design challenge. Students who compete at the Capital Area Math & Science Competition will be eligible to be invited to compete at the State Math & Science Competition. In addition to testing student knowledge of math and science concepts, the competition promotes teamwork, leadership, and academic achievement.

The competition will take place on Saturday February 25, 2012 at:
11500 North Mopac Expressway, Building C
Driving Directions: From MoPac, take the exit for FM-1325/Burnet Road/Duval Road. National Instruments in located on the west side of MoPac (southbound frontage road), south of Duval Road. The entrance to the campus is just after an apartment complex. (The entrance gate should be open when you arrive. If it is closed, push the button and tell the security guard that you are attending the TAME event, and they will open the gate for you.) Upon entering the campus, continue for 0.2 miles, then turn right towards Mopac C (you will see a sign for Mopac C). After the bend in the road, you will see Mopac C on your left. Park in the parking lot/garage on the right and walk across the street to the front entrance for Mopac C.
The tentative schedule is as follows (times are subject to change):
- 9:00-9:30am—Registration, breakfast snacks, tech demonstrations
- 9:30-9:45am—Welcome ceremony
- 9:45-11:45am—Math and science tests
- 11:45am-12:30pm—Lunch
- 12:30-2:30pm—Team design challenge
- 2:30pm-3:30pm—Raffle drawing & awards ceremony
Registration has CLOSED for the Capital Area Math & Science Competition, as we have reached our maximum capacity for the event. All registered students will receive a reminder email a few days prior to the competition with important event details.
All registered students are required to complete a Release Form. Students must submit their completed Release Form at registration at the beginning of the competition. Click here to download the Release Form.
TAME is seeking volunteers to assist with tasks, including test proctoring, judging the Team Design Challenge, and helping with setup/cleanup.
