History

The Amarillo Chapter was chartered by a group of Amarillo Independent School District educators and local industry personnel in October of 1981. The Amarillo Chapter of TAME, an all-volunteer organization maintains an active and committed membership of over 16 Amarillo area companies including several Federal and State Government agencies.

Working with Amarillo and Panhandle school districts within an 80-mile radius, local TAME members mentor middle and high school students in selection of courses that will provide stepping-stones for them in securing technical degrees.

During the traditional nine months annual school year, TAME members, organized into several committees provide students in grades 2-12 with a variety of activities and programs designed to stimulate and increase their awareness of careers in engineering. Amarillo TAME programs are opened to all students.
